While the use of mobile phones with the Internet-oriented gadget has widely
been prevalent throughout the nation, unfortunately, there is a group of people
who seldom make use of it, which is found to be the elderly. As time goes by,
there has been growing concern to figure out how those high technologies could
have a significant impact on them and how people can help them out to better
fiddle with those advanced technologies. In this essay, the above two issues
will be addressed in a practical and viable way in our lives.
To begin with, let’s take a look at how technologies can be applied for
grandparents. It is obvious that people in young age including our parents
mostly go out to work for a living leaving our grandparents left alone at home.
Thus, there is no one to look after or take care of them. To tackle this
problem, mobile phones with the Internet basis can be used as a
health-conscious detector for those people. Specialized application embedded in
phones can keep track of their health condition every single minute and their health-related
data is directly transmitted to their sons and daughters. By doing so, people
in old age are able to be better taken care by other family members thanks to
the improved technology.
Moving on to viable ways of encouraging them to make use of high tech, the
government can open free open classes. By educating old people how to keep up
with those fast-changing technology, the state can provide those people with
opportunities not only catch up with the current trend but also socialize with
other peer groups in the same or similar age.
This brings to an end that as long as people are well aware of the
usefulness of mobile phones with the Internet, it is highly recommended to
wisely utilize them to the old people. Therefore, I am of the view that the
government can fully support people in old age with lifelong education in
relation to technology development.
