It is a debatable issue that providing students with
on-line courses is always beneficial with an ever-increasing demand of
education anytime and anywhere. Although distance learning brought us benefits
to some extent, we still have to struggle with its drawbacks. From now on, an
analysis of certain restrictions will be addressed hereinafter.
First and foremost, I speculate that taking classes
through the Internet enabled to attend classes both anytime and anywhere. One
of my American friends working in Korea once invited me to his house and, when
I visited his place, I saw he was taking a lesson to get a master’s degree
through the online program offered by Cambridge University based in England. I
was so much surprised with the remarkably efficient educational method imagining
that I would also be able to attend classes by way of special programs prepared
by universities regardless of where I would be and time difference. Although we
can best take advantage of this merit, I firmly believe that demerits can be
more commonly considered.
It, however, is
absolutely ineffective education that proponents have to encounter. Although students
may raise class-related inquiries to lecturers by way of a tiny lens in camera
installed in a computer, the answer from the lecturer is only restricted to pieces
of words conveyed by the Internet. This implies that students are not able to enjoy
lively or vivid atmosphere in a classroom. To make matters worse, supporters
are not even able to socialize with other peer groups and nor exchange ideas
with other students. At these points I made above, I would like to more harshly
criticize on the negligence of negative impacts on profound learning.
To conclude,
in spite of some plausible advantages above, I am of the view that
disadvantages are much more overwhelming. To take this issue, universities are
highly requested to come up with or devise more brilliant educational tools to
boost merits and minimize demerits. |
