Over the past 5
years, there has been a fierce debate whether education of conventional way is
more effective than that of revolutionary way along with computer and the
Internet amongst educators. In this essay, both viewpoints will be explored and
you will have a glimpse of my personal opinion.
To start with, those
who have conservative attitude in education claim that student should be taught
by teachers at a classroom. In that case, teachers attempt to best make use of
textbook, encyclopedia and a limited source of visual and auditory aids. To be
honest, students are not that much likely to feel difficulties in acquiring
lessons from their classes and their teachers would not feel like a bounty of necessity
of exploiting computers and the Internet. However, teaching is only available
in classrooms and students have high tendency to read books published a long
time ago containing outdated information.
However, I am in
favor of adopting those new technologies in order to boost teaching as well as
learning for both teachers and students. Still, students can have and read
textbooks but they are more like e-books and they do not have to worry about their
e-books being outdated. This is because newly updated information or typos can
promptly be updated and teachers can utilize a computer and have access to the
Internet in order that students can fully be provided with pertinent visual
aids and audio materials. Besides, students can have opportunities of taking
online lessons at home thanks to the highly developed education system. In
2015, department of education in Cambridge University released a survey result that
academic achievement by way of high technology was 138% higher than that of
old-fashioned teaching method. Furthermore, the level of satisfaction both from
teachers and students turned out to be remarkable than sticking to outdated
education system.
In conclusion, pursing the traditional education
can still be available and appropriate in a limited level, we should not
overlook the tremendous benefits of introducing computers and the Internet for
effective learning and teaching in education. |
