Your Answer ▼Some people think that growing up in the
countryside is better them in a big city for children. However I disagree that
it is good to grow up in the countryside for children because a hospital is not
easy to reach, and there are less cultural and artistic opportunity.
To
begin with, there are less hospitals or no specialized hospitals for children
in rural area. Kids are used to sick or get accident often. Whenever they get
injured or sick in emergency, it is very hard to handle the situation. Even in
traffic jam, their parents also get terrified. One of my friends who lives in
Bowen Island has three children, and one of them slipped on a bathroom in the
midnight. His forehead was torn a little bit and bled a lot. Moreover, ferries
are closed. They called a taxi-boat for $300 to transfer from Bowen Island to
Vancouver, spending a lot of time to reach the hospital.
On
top of that, countryside has less chance cultural and artistic opportunity. For
children, cultural education makes kids develop their emotion and sensibility
of art. Unfortunately, major museums or theatres are in a big city. For
example, few weeks ago, there were Monet’s drawing exhibition in Vancouver art
gallery, who is my favorite painter. I went to the gallery with my son to share
the atmosphere. If I lived in rural area, even though Monet is my favorite one,
I would hesitate to visit there.
To
sum up, bringing up kids in countryside might have some advantages, but I
strongly disagree that since hospitals are lack at the territory and less
chances of cultural education for children. Given the chance, I would live in a
metro town with my kids for their physical and emotional condition rather than
remote rural area. |
