- How you felt about this historical building
Since my brother have recently married, I wanted to have a chance to go on a family trip to celebrate and welcome our new family member joining.
My family decided to visit Keongju where it used to be a capital city of Silla Kingdom. Especially Bulkuksa, the famous historic temple, is a place where so many tourists from all around the world visit when they come to Korea, speaking of which, especially high school students go visit Bulkuksa for a field trip. I did go there too when I was a teenager.
The city and the historical site is located in the southern part of Korea.
I could learn ancient knowledge about the temple, when and how it was built and why it has significant meaning in Korean history, which are things I had no interest when I was little.
Municipality of Keongju preserved the site really well and the site was added to UNESCO world heritage list together with another famous touristic site Seokguram. It encompasses 7 national treasures, the stone pagodas. Anyone can see the distinctive architecture style of the golden age of Buddhist art.
The unique serene atmosphere even feels exotic when there's not many chances to enjoy those tranquility these days, even though Korea once was called Land of Morning Calm.
