1.Is there someone with good ideas that has changed many people’s lives?
Yes, there is. I’m pretty sure, there are many people who have change individual’s life or our society in a better way including the man I mentioned in Part 2. As we all know, Rosa Parks led civil rights movement for black people, doing bus boycott and Bill Gates made the Internet access easier in our lives. Thanks to them, people should find freedom and live more convenient lives.
2.When do children being to have their own ideas?
According to Piaget’s theory of cognitive development, people are able to think since their birth. I was surprised by the result of the study, but also could understand it right away because babies respond to what they hear and see even through they can’t speak well. However, those young babies can’t have their own ideas because their brains are in the early stage of cognition. Therefore, I guess people from 12 years old can think subjectively and logically receiving educations and feeling many different emotions. It is seen that babies who still can’t speak are able to respond according to what they see and hear. However, I think it is true that they have their own independent ideas because they have early stages of brains and cognitive. Therefore, I guess, people can think independently and logically from the age of 12, receiving educations and feeling various emptions.
3.Why are there more and more differences between children and their parents?
First of all, I think, each person’s values are affected by their environment like family, friends, the times when they live in. It means, the reason why there are some differences between children and their parents is because each they see different things and hear different stories according to the times. The important thing is, personal opinions once made are easy to be solidified, but it’s very hard to be changed. There fore, most parents have old fashioned ideas compared to children’s. Nowadays, our society has been changed. It becomes more open and wider by globalization and the development of technology. So, I guess, the gap of differences between children and their parents would be greater.
4.What are the advantages and disadvantages of setting rules for children?
Setting rules for children helps them understand social structure and the role of rules. Since young kids are immature, they can’t tell what is right or wrong. If we set the rules for them telling what they need to do and they should not do, they will naturally learn about the importance of the rules while they follow decided rules. When they realize the significance of following rules, they will be able to do self-management. However, coercive restrictions would rather make rebellion from them. Also, it can decrease their creativity and self-esteem which might cause high levels of stress and inflexible thinking. Therefore, it is very important for parents to find the balance between setting the rules and allowing freedom.
