There are mixed opinions on whether personal information on the resume is useful or not. Some people concerned about that this personal information might lead employers to have a negative stereotype to applicants, however, others assert that this information would be relevant and useful to organize a team in the company. I believe that this personal information should be avoided in the CV.
On the one hand, this personal information on the resume will state the applicant's characters and status. Through this, companies are able to identify important elements from them to organize a team and these team might increase the efficiency and productivity of their projects. For example, people who like to do sports tend to have the attitude of strong competition and achievement, on the other hand, people like to read a book or listen the music may work calmly and delicately. By checking applicant's personal detail, companies would figure out the potential individual role in the company, which will contribute to the company's desirable development and achievement.
However, this might occur prejudice to employers. Companies may limit applicant's chance before they show their capacity because of stereotype from their application. Studies conducted by the employment labor department show that married women tend to be excluded in the promotion list, it is because that supervisors would think they cannot focus on their work due to their children. Also, single women who have a possibility to pregnant have lower employment rate than single men. Thus, this personal information might lead employer's choice negatively for someone.
In conclusion, personal details may lead companies to positive way, however, it also impacts some of the applicants negatively. Therefore, I strongly believe that this personal information should be deleted in their CV or interview procedure to avoid someone losing the valuable chance in their life. |
