Recent years have seen
a significant increase in the number of advertisement and its types. Thus, it
is thought by some that advertising adversely affects people’s thought and
living. However, in my opinion, far from being affected negatively, people can
benefit from various kinds of advertisement.
Although it is true
that commercials influence one’s way of thought, in practice, they have more
positive impacts on what people think. In other words, people’s recognition can
be improved in a more constructive way in many cases. For example, one of the global
corporations recently promised on its TV commercial that the company would not
use non-disposable plastic containers any more in order to help the
environment. This advertisement had an alarming effect, resulting in raising
the consumers’ awareness of climate change as well as reducing the use of
plastic items.
Another point to be
considered is the fact that advertising functions as a transmitter of
information. That is to say, it enables the public to gain new knowledge that
they do not know, such as the most recent trend of a certain goods or healthy
ways of diets. Furthermore, from advertisements, consumers can obtain useful
discount information that is usually offered during a limited period, which
leads them to not only doing clever purchases but also saving time and energy
for shopping.
In conclusion, while
people have varying opinions, I firmly believe that advertising affects
people’s way of thought in more positive ways and provides them with meaningful
knowledge, thus allowing them to have more convenience in their daily living.
