The
pie charts compare the data about which degrees the students of a certain
university in Canada were enrolled in the years 1980 and 2000.
Overall,
it is clear that in both years, bachelor’s degree was most popular among this
university students. Furthermore, while the proportion of this degree dropped
during the 20-year period, those of doctoral, master’s and associate degrees
increased on the whole.
Looking
at the charts more closely, one can see that in 1980, nearly three quarters of
students were enrolled in bachelor’s degree, whereas the proportion of associate
degree was just 13 percent despite the second highest. In the meantime, both
master’s degree and doctoral degree showed less than 10 percent with 9 percent
and 2 percent respectively. In 2000, however, the percentage of bachelor’s
degree dropped dramatically to just 42 percent, while master’s degree students
almost quadrupled compared to the figure of 1980, with 35 percent. The share of
students registered in associate degree courses also increased by 5 percent
points, and doctoral degree students made up 5 percent with a rise of 3 percent
points.
