Most of parents
think that caring for children is so important that they are willing to do best
for their children. Attention and enthusiastic attitude are, however, not
sufficient without childcare skills. Therefore, I agree that all mothers and
fathers should take a lesson to be good parents.
Firstly,
childhood is well-known as a significant period to develop a sense of propriety
and healthy lifestyle. Although children can learn those at school, it is
inappropriate for parents to leave entire education up to teachers. Parents as
well as teachers should have a deep understanding of children and childcare,
such as the developmental stage of children, causes of improper behaviors, how
to handle emergency situations and so on, to reduce a discrepancy in guidance
between at school and home. Having knowledge of childcare for parents makes it
possible that a consistent behavior guide can be applied to children.
Secondly,
children are losing a chance to learn from their family members other than
parents because the formation of family has changed to a two-generation family.
In the past, children were taught by not only their parents, also their
grandparents who have broad knowledge and experience in childcare. In addition,
older siblings and cousins could be the good role models for children to behave
themselves. Children these days rarely have many siblings or strong
relationship with cousins. Consequently, the role of parents in childcare is
now more important than the one in the past.
To
conclude, all parents with children including prospective parents should take a
course in order to provide proper parenting to their children. |
