Some people say homework pressures children and does more harm than good. They say children should run on the hills and gain diverse experience through playing with peers. For instance from this point of view "School break homework" in Korea was doing no good for children. It only made kids stressed and not be able to play as much as kids are supposed to. According to their idea, studying with books after school kept children inside and pressured. It can make kids less active and it might even make kids obese. As time passes, more and more young students are under immense pressure of getting good grade and staying inside. Even when they are resting they prefer to play video games or watch Youtube videos which also keep them inside and not moving much. On the other hand, some people don't agree on this idea. They argue that homework is very essential and crucial for improving young students' learning skills. According to this idea, School can offer children only one-sided-lectures and not active, self-driven or curiosity-driven learning. With this kind of lectures children still can't completely digest what they learn or in fact just "hear" from school. In order to make information they get from school, it is important to "utilise" information after school and it can be done via homework. I profoundly agree on this idea that homework is very crucial to children's learning process. If students just sit in front of a teacher and only heard what they had to learn, that would not be able to be called learning. Kids will easily forget what is important, what information can be used in daily life what so ever. Thus, after considering both arguments about whether children should do homework, I consider homework for children is crucial for their learning. Of course both arguments have reasonable points however, according to my own learning experience growing up, without homework or to think through information I learned at school nothing ever left in my head. Hence, for proper and efficient learning of children homework should be mandatory.
