Undoubtedly,
advice plays a significant role in people’s daily lives in many of the places
where they work or play. Some people think that getting advice from older
adults is better than getting advice from peers, while others do not. Both
sides may have their own reasons to support their views. If I had to choose
one, I would say that it is better to get advice from peers, not from older
adults. There are several reasons as follows.
To begin with, peers can suggest more
adequate solutions. Friends usually know well about their friends rather than
older people. Based on the good understand about their friends, friends can
recommend more effective suggestions. For example, when my youngest brother was
in high school, he often felt depressed thinking that his life became an
exhausting routine. He talked with his teacher about his problem, but the
teacher suggested just play soccer with friends. However, he hated playing
sports, so it was not helpful to him. His best friend, on the other hand,
recommended him to attend international festivals because he liked to meet
other people. Thanks to his friend’s advice, he was able to deal with such
pressure and stress in a safe way. As we can see from this example, advice from
peers is more proper.
On top of that, people can get
practical advice from peers. Many technologies are developed nowadays. When
people need a help about new things, old people cannot lend a helping hand
because they have not experienced them. For instance, I had a trouble with my
computer when I was in college. I asked my grandfather, but I could not get any
help from him because he did not know anything about a computer. Fortunately, I
could solve the problem thanks to one of my friends who majored in the computer
department. He told a lot of solutions to my problem, and my computer began to
work after applying his suggestions. In the light of the archetype, older
people cannot give any advice about new trends.
All things considered, I strongly
believe that the advantages of getting advice from friends far outweigh of
those of getting advice from old adults for the reasons I have mentioned above.
All in all, this trend will continue and pass down to the next generation. |
