▶ Your Answer : Some people think that, sports and social activities should not receive
equal financial support because they are not as important as classes and
libraries, while others do not. Both sides have own reasons to support their views. If I had to choose one, I would say
that activities like sports an social events should receive equal financial
support because they have equivalent importance
to classes and libraries. There are several reasons and examples as follow.
To begin with, sports and activities deserve
financial supports because they are as educating as
academic activities. To be specific, if students interact with people from different backgrounds, they will be able
to develop social skills. Getting involved in sports and social club provides student with
opportunities to work with a lot of people. For
example, when my college announced that school
will construct swimming pool, many people concerned because it required substantial budget. However, thanks to brand new
facilities, a lot of students from different majors joined swimming club.
Cooperating for team competition, students learned team work. They got easier
to work in group project in other classes. If they did not have chance to play for the team, they
would have not been able to learn cooperation.
In addition, sports and activities
deserve financial support since they help students to become healthier. Health
is very important aspect of life but it is not an advantage that academic equipment
such as books and study room can offer. By joining extracurricular activities like sports and
social clubs, students can relieve their stress. Removing stress is helpful for
health. What is more, the less stress you have, the better you can focus on
studying. For example, students in my college have an easy access to orchestra
because school have invested in buying a variety of instruments recently.
Anyone who is interested in music can join the orchestra and learn how to play.
By doing so, people can relieve their stress from homework and exams. Getting
refreshed, they also get an energy to better stay focused on study. It is
evident that relieving stress by getting involved in social activities allow
students to stay health and do better in study.
To sum up, sports and social activities deserve financial supports
because they are educating and help students become healthier. In this
regard, I believe sports and activities
are as important as classes and libraries, therefore should get financial
supports.
