Some
people believe that the way people behave does not change whether people wear
different clothes or not, while others feel the opposite is true. In my
opinion, people behave differently when they wear different clothes for two
reasons.
First of all, what people wear depends on the situation and environment
they are in. People have common sense that which outfits are appropriate for
certain circumstances such as a suit for a meeting or job interview, not for
jogging. It is obviously true that people act differently in a different
situation with different clothes. For instance, when I have an important
meeting, I wear my suit, and go out of my way to look very professional. I
speak in a very formal way, and try not to smile too often, because it may give a
wrong signal to others that I am not serious. On the other hand, if I am at a
party with a fancy dress, I act like I am a celebrity. My nervous in the
meeting is totally disappeared, and I smile and talk in the way I want.
Second, the way people wear clothes affect other’s behavior which re-affects
the way people behave. It is difficult to understand others at the first time,
so people try to guess what kind of a person he or she is based on their
appearance, and behave based on what they have probed. My personal experience
is a compelling example. There was a boy who I really fell in love with when I
was a high school student. When I was in my school uniform, the boy even did not
notice that I was around him. I did not dare to talk with him, because I thought
that he ignored me. On the day of a school excursion, I wore a lovely dress. Surprisingly,
the boy came to me and started talking. I suddenly felt very confident and
talked with him without any fear.
In
conclusion, I firmly believe that people behave differently wearing different
clothes, because what they wear is closely related with the situation they are
involved with, and also related with counterparts’ behavior which can give an
effect to the way people act. |
