Some people might think that companies
should be allowed to directly advertise to children under the age of five.
However, in my opinion, the advertisement for young children should not be permitted.
First, it can influence badly on children’s health. Second, parents’ financial
burden will be increased by enticed children.
To
begin with, if the advertisement is allowed, children’s health can be dangerous.
Advertisers are not concerned about children’s health and only interested in
profit and will sell things that are unhealthy. For example, one incident in one
country can prove my point. Last year, the country passed the law of permission
to advertise to children. The result was totally unexpected, it was a big
failure. After the implementation of this policy, some junk food advertisements
for child arisen and the demand of children for these rapidly mounted. Consequently,
the number of obese children was significantly increased. This example shows how
the advertisement can effect on children.
On
top of that, the commercial will give economic burden to parents who have kids.
Children lack good judgement and are easily affected by commercials. But they ask
for a new thing whenever they see an interesting ad. For instance, when my
brother was five years old, he used to watch children’s programs and some
commercials between the programs. My brother was really into the commercials
and he asks advertised toys many times to mother. Each of them was over four
hundred dollars, but my mother bought them for him. But, he wanted a new toy
everytime he watched new advertisement. Finally, my mother spends a myriad of
money on purchasing the toys.
To
sum up, advertising on kids is not helpful for children’s health and aggravates
household finance by tempting children. In this regard, I believe strongly all
of commercials for children under the age of five should be restricted for these reasons I mentioned
above.
