▶ Your Answer :
Have you ever heard the problematic situation of citizens of underdeveloped countries? There are still several social problems that have to be solved such as famine, hunger or excessive population growth. Although the environmental problems, related to extinct of animals, are also present, but the social predicaments which humans are facing are more urgent to solve. Thus, I firmly agree with the statement and the fundamental reasons behind my opinion are that we can provide sufficient food to poor people without environmental harm and more housings are needed due to the rapid growth of world population.
To begin with, people in poor countries are constantly experiencing survival crisis. We can easily see their miserable condition through various medium such as social media. Most of them are in Africa where the land are not developed yet and preserved as a dwelling of wild animals. Thus, by using advanced agricultural technologies, we can yield enough crops in the wide land of Africa. Of course, it could give negative impact on endangered animals and destroy the ecosystem through the food chain, but humans also have improved the skills of conserving flora and fauna in artificial fields. In other words, the effects of farming, which could trigger devastative impact in the past, could be eliminated by humans' own effort. In Kongo, for instance, non-profitable organizations invested a lot in installing infrastructure of agriculture, putting effort to prevent the number of honeybees from decline by using man-made field. By doing so, the bees successfully pollinated the crops and the people in Kongo fully got the benefit of agriculture without making any damage on environment.
On top of that, the population is increasing geomatrically, which means we need more housing. Although the improvement of construction skills is astonishing, the skyscrapper might not be a final solution to increasing population because we have the limitation to build houses higher, while population would mount endlessly. Hence, we have to use more lands for housing inevitably to accommodate every people. In Korea, for instance, people have concentrated on building apartments to provide enough houses to citizens. However, they faced the limitation of construction, so the government allowed people to construct more buildings in the site which was green belt, strictly regulated to develop.
To sum up, it is more important to use land for human needs than to save animals because we can solve urgent social problems without negative impact on environment and the number of people is increasing still. In this regard, without any hesitation, I firmly agree with the statement.
