▶ Your Answer : Some
people say that attending classes on campus is much better choice than taking classes
online. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, this problem has been an important discussion
not only among students but school officials. However, in my opinion, I believe
that attending online courses have much more merits by comparison with taking classes
on campus for the following reasons.
First
of all, technology has been developed enough to replace every circumstance of classroom.
For an effective class, several things are highly required; a professor should constantly
pay attention to students’ nonverbal expressions such as face or gesture to check
if they understand well, and conversely students should actively participate in
a discussion and ask a question to the professor. However, the development of telecommunication
technology made these activities possible to be accomplished in online circumstance
without any obstacles. For example, my university made use of zoom as a video conference
for a real time online class. At the beginning, I expected some technical problems
and some time for adaptation in online class. However, the first class was ended
completely as in real classroom. Students including me also could ask questions
through microphone and text and the professor immediately replied on them in class.
Also the professor could see our faces through webcams to check our responses. Sometimes,
I was not able to ask a question whenever I sat far from the professor since my
voice was barely not reached. But thanks to online platform, I could ask a question
without any hesitation. Therefore, this proves that there is almost no difference
between a real classroom and online course and even merits of taking classes online.
Secondly,
students can manage their time much better if they attend online courses. If every
lecture is given on computer, all I should prepare for the class is sitting in front
of the computer and turn on the camera and microphone. Therefore, this saves a lot
of time to commute. Also, students can record the lecture in order to review when
they can concentrate on. From my experience, I am not an early bird person. However,
important major classes are mostly positioned in the early morning. If those classes
were given in a real classroom, I would work up at almost seven, so I would not
be able to stay awake at the class. Fortunately, online classes allow me wake up
at almost right before the class starts. Furthermore, I also could record the classes
and go over them before the exams. In light of my personal experience, online courses
largely helped me manage my precious time, so I benefited from it so that increased
my school performance.
To
sum up, taking classes online is more advantageous than attending classes on campus
since profitable technology and better time management. In this regard, I firmly
believe that online course is better than attending classes on campus. |
