▶ Your Answer : People have been
questioning whether television advertising toward young children is helpful.
Some people think such advertisements would enable young children to broaden
their perspective, while other think it would only hurt them in many aspects.
In my perspective, I believe television advertising should not be allowed
toward young children because it is addictive and would bring about a bad
relationship between children and their parents.
First
and foremost, television advertising is highly addictive to young children. In
fact, television itself is already without a doubt addictive to children since
they cannot control themselves. However, television advertising is additionally
alluring children to buy their products. By this, young children would be
absolutely lured by the product they want to have and would continuously watch
the advertisement. Moreover, since they would be watching at the television for
a long time, their health would be greatly damaged. It is hard to deny that young
children's body is flexible. If they watch the television with a bad posture,
their bones will get hurt, not to mention bad eyesight. For instance, my cousin
was five years old last year. Since my uncle has been overwhelmed with his work,
he did not have much time to take care of his son. Accordingly, my cousin got
addicted to the television advertisement regarding a robot. Most of the time,
he was watching that advertisement without doing anything else. As a result,
his eyesight got extremely bad that he is now wearing eye glasses even he is
still young. My cousin's story clearly shows that television advertisement
toward young children is addictive and dangerous.
In
addition, it would lead to a bad relationship between young children and
parents. Specifically, most children have a tendency to get what they desire.
As I mentioned earlier, television advertisement allure children to purchase
their products. Once children got so obsessed with a certain product, they
would never give up until parents would buy it for them. However, parents cannot
always buy everything what their children want. Sometimes, parents have to
reject what they ask to buy. This would, as a result, result in a controversy
between them. Let me bring up my personal story as an example. I can still
remember that whatever product I saw in television, I forced my parents to buy
it. If they did not buy it for me, I cried a lot. My parents could not help
this situation since they were having a financial problem. If I had not
encountered those advertisements at the first place, my family would not have
had a hard time. My story evidently explains that a bad relationship would be
made between children and parents due to television advertisement.
People
often encounter several tempting products through television advertising and
even purchase those at the spur of the moment. However, I believe young
children should not be exposed to such television advertising. It is because it
not only makes them addicted, but also makes a bad relationship between family members. |
