Some people might say that we have to improve our economic growth first, and it would be not late to preserve the environment after that. However, in my opinion, conservation of the environment must be the first priority of our plan for the following reason. The environment is our first basic condition that we can live our life with convenience.
As environmentalists said, we have to leave our circumstance clean for our next generation. The environment we live is also the legacy our ancestor try to leave clean. It is close to the heritage. If we exploit the most of substance too much, even though evolved technologies would make it easy for our nest generation to earn and accumulate money, in the same time, that make it too difficult for our children to run and play outside because of the emission of severe gases. I am going to take an example of China. In 1982, some region of Beijing embarked on the construction of factories to make more profit. However, because they constructed too many plants, harm gases, such as carbon dioxide or methane, emitted from the plants almost took up 32% of atmospheric content. So almost everyone left the realm and there was no one to work at the factories. The more severe problem was that the fleeing people to other region caused overpopulation and they have to struggle with shortage of food. The result was totally a big failure.
To sum up, the more we pursue our economic profit, the shorter the longevity of humanity could be. In this regard, I disagree with the statement that it is acceptable for the government to neglect environmental concerns to promote economic growth.
