▶ Your Answer :Some people think that children should play
sports for competition, not for fun. However, in my opinion, I firmly believe
that sports should be played for fun by children. The reasons are that the
ultimate purpose of sports is for healthy body and an intense competition in
sports can give negative impact on children.
To begin with, the main goal of exercising
is to build a strong body not to win the sport games. If children learn to play sports for competition, that
will provoke a lot of stress and children will not want to exercise
voluntarily. As a result of this, sports would deteriorate both mentally
and physically. For example, my cousin played tennis in his school very
often when he was in elementary school. However, his teacher made too many tennis
games to compete with his classmates. He was so stressful for this and he stopped playing tennis which made his body condition bad.
On top of that, vibrant competition among
children can hurt both physically and psychologically. Many children want to reap
a good result from a sport game so they play intensely. While playing in this
way, children can fall down or bump into each other which can lead children to
get hurt. In addition, when they lose, they can be so sad and think
negatively such as working hard doesn’t always bring good results. To give you an idea, I want to provide my personal
experience. When I was in elementary school, I had a running competition and I worked
very hard for this. I practiced day and night for the first place, but I became
the second at the end. I was so depressed because I felt that all the things I
did became nothing. This is a bad memory until now, and competition impacted on me negatively.
To sum up, sports are for improving one’s
health and competitive sports can influence in a bad way on children. In this
regard, I hold that it is better for children to play sports for pleasure not
to compete. |
