According to the reading, the illusion of transparency is when people overestimate the extent to which their internal mental states are discernible to others.
The professor gives an example using the experiment about lying to explain the illusion of transparency.
First, the professor says the purpose of the experiment was to find out whether people are able to access the ability to detect their lies.
Each student got the card and should give truthful or deceitful answer loudly.
And then the professor says the result showed that people believe 50% of others had caught their lies, however only 25% were able to do so.
This is because students feel anxiety because of being dishonest.
