REPRESENTATIVE (British): Good morning and thank you for calling Yachts for You, the United Kingdom’s only yacht rental company. How may I help you?  

ADAM (British): Yes, good morning. I’m calling to inquire about renting a yacht for a private company party. This is, um, the first time I’ve rented a yacht, however, so I’m unsure of what’s involved. 

REPRESENTATIVE: No problem. I’d be happy to help you today. First of all, can I get your name?

ADAM: Sure. It’s Adam. A-D-A-M. And my surname is Garner. G-A-R-N-E-R.

REPRESENTATIVE: Thank you Mr. Garner. Now, how many people will be attending the party?

ADAM: 40 people will be attending.

REPRESENTATIVE: OK. When will the party occur and how many days would you like to rent the yacht?

ADAM: Well, we’d only need it for the day. The party is scheduled for June 14th.

REPRESENTATIVE:  Does the party need to be catered?

ADAM: What options do I have regarding the catering? Can I hire a private company to cater the event?

REPRESENTATIVE: Yes, you may, however, we offer a discount for using our preferred caterer. The catering includes a full bar, meals, and servers.

ADAM: Great. Since we’ll be out all day, can we have two separate meals served?

REPRESENTATIVE: Yes. The price is £70 per person for each meal. So, if you decide to have two meals served, then the price per person would be £140 per person. We include this amount in the total cost of renting the yacht.

ADAM: OK. I’d also like to get a DJ for the event. Do you offer any type of entertainment services?

REPRESENTATIVE: Of course. We have a DJ and light show package. The cost for that service is £1800.

ADAM: That sounds good.

REPRESENTATIVE: May I ask what type of event you’re hosting for your company?

ADAM: Sure. It’s an annual team building trip for our top sales agents. It’s just a token of appreciation for their hard work.

REPRESENTATIVE: That’s wonderful. Now, the price of the yacht is £8,000 for the day. That includes all fees and taxes, including the cost of the staff. We require 50% to reserve the vessel. The remaining 50% is due one month before the reservation date.

ADAM: How late can we keep the yacht?

REPRESENTATIVE: The normal daily rental period ends at 11:00. If you’d like it longer, there’s an additional fee.

ADAM: Can we decide once we’re on the yacht to extend the rental period?

REPRESENTATIVE: I’m sorry, no. The hours of the rental must be determined and paid for before the day of the event.

ADAM: How much to keep the yacht until 02:00 a.m.?

REPRESENTATIVE: After 9:00 p.m., the rental costs an additional £750 per hour. So, that’d be an additional £2,250. 

ADAM: OK. In that case, I’d like to rent the yacht until 02:00 a.m. How much will it be to put down the 50%?

REPRESENTATIVE: Alright. The cost of the yacht, plus the extended time and the cost of the entertainment comes to £12,050. Half of that would be £6,025.

ADAM: That’s grand. Can I give you a credit card over the phone?

REPRESENTATIVE: Unfortunately, you must fill out some paperwork online and then sign a form and either fax or email it back. You can make the payment online once we’ve received the paperwork. The other alternative would be to come in and do it in person.

ADAM: Where are you located?

REPRESENTATIVE: 20202 Buckner Street, London. Just off the King’s Cross station.

ADAM: Got it. I’ll stop by in person later today.

REPRESENTATIVE: Great. We’re open until 6:00 p.m. We can go over the specifics of where the yacht is located, transport to and from the docks and other questions you might have when you get here.
