Part 2. Job& Study
Describe an interesting job that you know.
-what the job is
-what kind of education or qualities are needed to get this job
and explain why you think this job is interesting
There are many fascinating jobs in the world. However I've always interested in a clinical psychologist. Even though I'm teaching at the moment, when I change my career, I would study psychology.
Working as a clinical psychologist requires minimum 6 years of study and 2 years of supervised practice. It sounds long compared to 4 years of university period to become a teacher in Korea, but..well... no pains no gains.
There are several reasons why I'm interested in this job.
First of all, this job is in demand in Australia. I will migrate to Australia when I get married to my boyfriend, who is an Australian citizen. I need to choose jobs that has many vacancies. Moreover, psychology is always an area of my interest. I'd like to help people who are suffering from mental illness. I would be over the moon if I can do that.
Part 3.
What kinds of jobs make lots of money?
-Doctors usually get paid the most regardless of the nations. Actually, my brother is working as a doctor. He's still resident but he earns enough to manage his life in a luxury apartment, eat good quality food and even send some pocket money to parents.
What kind of jobs should be better paid?
- White color jobs tend to be paid more than blue colored jobs. However I believe manual workers should have better incomes. Their work requires situating them in risky conditions. For instance, some construction workers pass away anually while working under the hot sun in summer.
Part 2.
Describe a company that you'd like to work for
- what this company is
- what this company is known for
- how you got to know this company
and explain why you want to work for this company
As working as a public school teacher, I haven't really thought about working in a company. However, I guess working in education broadcasting company might be a good option.
The abbreviation is EBS. This company publish books for students and make videos of internet lectures. Many students can do extra studies after school without much costs.
I took their lecture since I started my primary school. Ever since then, until highschool graduation, I got helped in my study from their lecutre. Even now, as a teacher I'm using their books when teaching students.
The reason I want to work in this company is because I can use my teaching skills. Since my major and my career are all related to education, I can't think of any other companies that are not related to education. Moreover, their salary is high. I can't remember exact number, but the payment per a lecture is so high that it can't be compared to my payment now.
part 3.
What are the differences between big and small companies?
- There are various differences between big companies and small ones. Firstly, usually big companies pay their employees better salaries and offer them perks like paid time off. That's because they are making high profits themselves. Secondly, big companies have more organized system compared to small companies. They usually have longer history and had enough time to make up the default of the system. On the other hand, employees in a small companies might feel they are all important member of the company since number of workers are small. In addition, they might even feel like a family.
Why do some people choose to work at small companies?
- I suppose some of them choose to do that because they failed to be hired in big companies. That's because entering into a big company is very competitive. Another reason I can think of is that some people might prefer small companies because they want to avoid competitive atmosphere in a big company. In a small company they might have better chance to be promoted.
