There is a debate over the issue regarding
animals, specifically how we should treat them. One might be recognize them as
our friends and family while others just see them as resources that we can use.
In my opinion, though it is somewhat painful, there is no choice but to weigh
more on their function in our society as resources.
First of all, animals cannot be true friends.
Some respectful people do regard them as their friends and really treat them
with decency. However, other people who say themselves as a friend of
animals are not actual friends but just users. They feel some affections and relief
through animals by 'caring' them in their homes. However, while doing so, they neutralize animal’s
sexes for easy care or take away their voices to avoid conflicts between
neighbors. I do not believe the breeders have those kinds of human friends in their real life.
After all, there remains painful confession that, they are actually using
animals for their mental satisfaction by tagging animals as their friends while imposing cruel pains on the other side.
For
the next, we, humans are forced to use animals from our history and it is continued. For example,
before we invent cars, we rode horses, before we put machines in our field, there
were cows on the same field. Adding to that, we have eaten meats and worn furs to survive from cold winter. And we
are still relying on animals even we have reached some level of modern civilization.
Vegetables cannot fully supply needed nutrition to our body, and artificial
fibers also cannot give enough warmness to some people in some areas. As such,
it is the fact that, we are still using animals in our daily lives.
In
conclusion, in current human society, we started discussion on the status of
animals in our world but it is far behind the level of true friendship. And we
are not ready to be supported by alternatives in our table and in our closets
also. Thus, in status quo, animals are resources.
