The graph gives information about how many Canadians were employed in five different industries (finance, professional services, manufacturing, construction, and agriculture) in 1999 and 2015. The figures were measured in thousands.
Overall, both in 1999 and 2015, manufacturing sector hired the most number of people while the least number of people worked in agriculture.
In 1999, 2200 thousand of people worked in manufacturing, which was between 2 and 5 times higher than the numbers of people employed in other industries. In 2015, this figure fell to 1700 thousand. On the other hand, in 1999, the numbers of people hired in finance and professional services were 800 and 900 thousands, respectively. In the second year surveyed, those figures increased by between 300 and 400 thousands.
Concerning construction sector, the number of people working in the field was 800 thousands in 1999, but this figure almost doubled in 2015. Meanwhile, the number of people employed in agriculture never exceeded 500 thousands in both years surveyed.
