Your Answer ▼ Some people think that English, which is now the most used language in the world, might hold absolute power compared to other languages. Because of the increase of travel abroad, English might become the single language that is spoken legally. This essay will be discussing both points of view.
The advantages of having only one language is better than several languages are clear in conversate. For example, people would no longer study other kinds of languages what they go on a trip or work. Additionally, if everyone spoke one language, people could understand each other completely. Another reason that sole language would be beneficial is that it would help economical growth. For instance, everyone speak the same language, there will be less barriers. Thus, trade would be active between countries and it could lead to a good way in all around the world.
On the other hand, there are disadvantages to have sole global language. Firstly, it means that all other countries' languages would disappear and as a result, their cultures would also disappear. To illustrate, although each culture is special, people would ignore it and also let it lose cultures and their identity. Secondly, If all countries are having the same cultures and languages, traveling abroad would decrease. It is not able to make people interested on other countries. For instance, people usually go on a trip overseas when they want to get out of a stressful circumstance. However, if everything is the same, people would not go on a trip anymore and it would make side effects on the tourism.
To conclude, there are several obvious advantages to have an universal language because it would make the world's economy grow and people would not need to study other languages. However, only one language could make other languages and cultures disappear. Likely, tourism would not develop anymore. Thus, both views should be considered.
