Young people today are blamed by their
parents for their passive lifestyle. Most parents argue that this lazy
lifestyle had a very bad physical effect on their children such as decreasing
stamina. Also, they insist that overusing technology products such as computer
games or social networking sites are bring these results. As for this argument,
I agree with them, simultaneously I think this is an inevitable trend of the
age.
On the surface, high-tech products make
young people lazy. However, according to one study, there is no significant
difference in overall physical stamina and strength between the current and
parent generation. This is because also many people like internal activities
such as reading books than outdoor just like generation today. The huge
difference why parents were higher than now about physical abilities is that
there was no electronic entertainment. Because of that, when they played with
friends, they naturally played games that require physical activity, which
helped improve their health. On the other hand, these days, urbanization has
reduced the number of places where young children can physically play and
simultaneously, electronic entertainment has developed. Due to this, this
generation is forced to choose the games made by high-technology and it is lead
to decreasing their stamina. Moreover, the knowledge required by this period is
needed more time to learn than parents’ one, so many students are spending to
time in institutions for education. That is why many young people are avoiding
physical activities that cause them to feel a lot of fatigue and rather
preferred electronic activities that they could easily access. In summary,
indeed, the physical ability is lower than that of the parent's generation, but
this is inevitable with the development of the times.
However, since everyone knows that many
diseases occur due to lack of physical activity, there are many sports facilities,
including gymnasiums, and many young people are also using them. Therefore, I
am sure that there will never be any health problems that the parents'
generation will be concerned about. |
